what exactly is our policy and position on Libya?

NATO Response Force

take your pick:

  • we either will or wont insert ground troops
  • the fighting will be over in either days weeks or months
  • NATO will or wont lead the coalition
  • the US will or wont lead

thanks for clearing that up

Vague at best… but the more interesting question is what kind of “process” leads us to that direction?

This administration reminds me of the discretionary trader with no sense of structured context.

Whether it be health care(we’ll worry about the 2000 pages of unintended consequences later) or Libya(where the European community gets a larger vote than our own congress) you get the feeling there is no structured thinking going on.

Discretion is a powerful tool, but if it’s not backed up with experience, you’re living in a vacuum and that can become a very risky world indeed.

The scariest thing about America anymore is that macho Americans “think” with emotion and don’t understand their own military. This is a VERY dangerous situation for the world’s single super-power. The latest war (in Libya) is an excellent example of how that military gets misused for cheap ulterior objectives. Read a good explanation of the war in Libya by a life-long professional soldier. http://invincibleprobity.wordpress.com/2011/03/25/only-one-label-possible-war/ (The site is not seeking anything but thinking readers.)
