Increase in gold margins as a way to force money into the market to spur the “recovery”

August 25, 2011 Leave a comment

raising the margins on gold is the government’s way of  making it harer for people who can see what they are doing to the currency and the economy to profit.  As a way of comparison, the chart below shows the effects on silver when the same tool was used.

Dorothy Parker

Maxine Waters cant understand why her quid hasnt earned and pro quo’s.  She makes Sheila Jackson Lee look  reasonable

and then asks her constituents to give her permission to be a leader, lest anyone gets their feelings hurt.

yeah, that makes me want to send more tax money to Washington

Republicans finding ways to make Obama look presidential

August 14, 2011 Leave a comment

what an uninspiring set of choices we are offered

Its Perry’s race to lose, and he looks like nothing more than Bush 2.0, without the speech impediment, but fewer ideas if that were possible.

Pawlenty dropped out after lacking the courage to even debate Romney when he had a chance, then tried to beat up Michelle Bachman and fell flat.

Romney the empty suit cant even generate static electricity. Ron Paul wont ever shed his foreign policy nut label, although he’s closest by far to the Founders’ intent for a President.

Newt is a cartoon of himself which hasnt aged well as he gets lost in the noise of an impatient media.

the ladies traded very well, netting  2K for the week, using simple support & resistance levels, with good risk management and money management techniques.

they traded 2 indices: Russell2000 and the DJIA, at  contract per trade, with an initial risk of 250; they added some practrice tardes in some currencies later in the week fro the experience: mostly Aussie and Canadian dollars

the 3 of them around 2 laptops and 2 extra screens doing their collaboration was very instructive and motivational to the rest of the trading room.  They  were very good and learned a lot and will soon be prepared to go live, now that they have a good understanding of the platform

Trading experimentation: ticks vs price charts

A futures wheel as described by Jerome C. Glenn.

am very pleased and interested in the results of using tick charts in short term futures trading

tick charts do a good job of mapping the psychology implied in price changes in a regular wave, calibrated by decisions made, rather than in decisions over time

in some ways it is the conceptual equivalent of point and figure charts, and renko charts

we are finding that 200 ticks per candle is probably too  sensitive to mood changes and increases trading frequency in a large index like the Dow, but that 800 ticks looks very good for intraday trading

these are things you only learn by trying, and our live trading workshop did a good job of testing the  ideas
